De-armouring bodywork

What stands in the way becomes the way.

Marcus Aurelius.

We all carry things that impede us from being our best and happiest self. We all encounter less than ideal situations in Life. Some of these are relatively harmless, some not so much. Some are one-timers, others return with regular frequency. When we are not tending to these instances our nervous system gets activated, and we store them in our body. Over time, these places, in or on the body, become harder and/or number, there may be physical tension and pain. The collection of these points, or clusters is called the ‘armour’. The armour can be accessed through the pain body, a very old concept traced back to original indigenous peoples around the world.

In de-armouring, we use different techniques including massage, acupressure, stretching, trigger point therapy, breath- and soundwork to bring loving attention to these areas of pain, numbness, tension and disconnection.

This is a client-driven approach: as a client, you retain full control throughout the session, by clearly and actively voicing your needs within the set boundaries. This increases the sense of agency you feel over your body and life. And you just may walk out to face the world with new bravery, energy and focus.

An individual de-armouring session with a client.

What does a de-armouring session look like:

  • In contrast to a massage where you just let go, a de-armouring session requires commitment from the client and a willingness to remain open and communicative during the whole process.
  • We start with an initial chat to introduce you to the de-armouring process, what to expect, what not to expect.
  • During the session, and depending on agreements made during the initial chat, there may be elements of massage and pressure points woven together with breathwork.
  • Time: A session can last for up to 2.5 hours, depending on the extent covered and the intensity of the process. This includes time for integration after the session.
