Who am I?
Originally a scientist and researcher in medical biology by training and profession, and extended experience in medical information and technical writing, I decided to swing the steering wheel into another direction: the much less exact science of working with people in challenging life situations.
I got there after a couple of burn outs and a failed (really long-term) relationship which drove me into depressive and self-destructive episodes. Of course you know something is not right at that moment. I wanted so much more for my life, but I just.could.not.make.the.U-turn I longed for.
Desperation makes you shoot at everything that moves, which started to kick in only after a couple of years of classical psychotherapy or cognitive-behavioral therapy sessions. None of which ever brought me closer to the ‘real thing’. So I went rogue, i.e. for an alternative approach, with primarily plant medicines and breathwork. Other additions included de-armouring, voice dialogue and shamanistic approaches. This work blew me right open. What had been stored inaccessible in my body for years, now suddenly surfaced. I had no tools, no experience and no direction. As is the case for everyone on this path, I also had to find my own way. I had to find a way on how to integrate the experiences I had in favor of the so desired U-turn.
The tools I used, forced me to listen to my internal voice, i.e. not the voice of reason, but the voice of Heart. The latter may even be harder to listen to at times, but at the same time it is so much more rewarding. Old patterns melt away for those who listen consciously and carefully, and who are ready to take uncomfortable steps to overcome that which is in their way (the infamous “What is in the way, is the way”). It is the ultimate process of life-long learning and adapting, and it is extremely rewarding <3.
In the course of this process, I have learned that really the most important thing is listening, listening to what is present and what wants to grow within. Listening with full focus and attention to what wants to grow within. Listening and tuning in to Silence.
This is what I can give you, a ‘hearty listen’, support in reaching those parts of you that are beyond the mind’s ability to control, and a set of tools tuned to you specifically, so you can keep the change alive, also after our sessions are finished.
Doing my part – Hospice work
I am actively volunteering on an almost weekly basis at a local palliative care center. There, I sit with those of us who are near the end. I love doing this work, as I feel I am giving something of value to those in need. It entails listening and sitting in silence. The training I am currently receiving to grow further in this work also helps me in situations not immediately life-threatening.
If this resonates with you, or you know of a loved one who could benefit from this type of work, feel free to reach out. I support private 1:1 settings as well.
